Todd Clement
In the past twenty five years, Attorney Todd Clement has successfully handled many car, truck, and commercial vehicle cases involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. Some of those cases involved distracted driving and have allowed Todd to develop particular strategies to discover and expose distracted driving as the true cause of many major collisions. Todd’s passion for cases involving cell phone use and texting while driving began several years ago after a 30-year-old wife and mother and her 82-year-old grandmother were killed when their stopped vehicle was rear-ended at 71 mph by a cable TV service technician who was texting prior to the accident. The families hired Todd to get to the bottom as to why their loved ones were killed and to hold the driver and his company accountable.
As he has done in the past, Todd assembled a trial team of the best experts in the country. Among these experts was Dr. David Strayer, one of the nation’s leading cell phone distraction experts who appeared on Oprah’s “No Phone Zone” programs and was extensively quoted in the New York Times Pulitzer prize-winning series on distracted driving. Todd’s work with Dr. Strayer, together with many hours of self-study, gave Todd the knowledge to skillfully question the defense’s expert on cell phone distraction. Their expert gave testimony that became a key turning point in the accident victim’s case. After almost a year of work, the case was settled for a confidential sum just two weeks before trial.
Todd’s expertise and unique perspective caught the attention of many safety organizations including Focus Driven, a national organization (similar to MADD) dedicated to the victims of cell phone accidents. Consequently, Todd has become a national advocate for positive change to distracted driving law as well as cell phone and texting safety. He donates a great deal of time and effort speaking at corporate gatherings, safety seminars, and to the media.
Attorney Clement truly tries to fulfill the commandment found in Galatians 6:2 to “help carry one another’s burdens and in this way, you will obey the laws of Christ.” He only handles a select few serious injury and wrongful death cases at a time which results in each client receiving Todd’s individual attention.
